Poly Launches New All-in-One Content Sharing and Collaboration Solution

By Erik Linask - Group Editorial Director

A number of business trends are making it more important than ever for companies to enable efficient and productive collaboration between teams and externally with partners and customers.  That includes distributed workforces, with employees working in multiple offices or at home, but it’s also a function of advances in technology that make sharing and collaboration easier.  Today’s tools deliver a much more immersive multimedia collaboration experience than the basic conference calls most people are used to.

“Not only are we spending more time in meetings than just a few years ago, we’re collaborating in different ways than before with the rise of remote workers, open office floor plans and increasingly global workforces,” said Chris Thorson, senior director of global solutions marketing, Poly.

Near-ubiquitous connectivity, higher bandwidth service, and mobile access that reasonably mimics wired connections make it possible to connect without geography posing an obstacle.  But, it requires the applications and hardware to make it all possible, and collaboration solutions are becoming both more advanced – with more features and functionality – and simple at the same time.

It’s what Poly is going for with its new G7500, which combines content collaboration and video conferencing in a single device.  With advanced audio, wireless content sharing, and Ultra 4K video, the G7500 provides an immersive multimedia collaboration experience to enable personal interactions across geographies.  It’s really the next iteration in a journey Polycom – now part of Poly – started more than a decade ago with its immersive RealPresence rooms.

The most recent evolution of it collaboration experience makes lifelike video and content sharing the heart of the interaction through customizable interfaces for both touch and non-touch displays.  One of the key collaboration features is infinite whiteboarding, which allows users to write over content, leverage the screen a true collaboration space, and capture the content for distribution and reference later.

The idea is to not only deliver the high quality audio and video Poly is known for – through its historical Plantronics and Polycom brands – but to give the power of interactive sharing to all attendees in meetings, regardless of the devices they are using.  The result is a collaboration experience that lets users share ideas and content as though they are all in the same physical space – when, in reality, they may be distributed anywhere across the country or globe.

“The G7500 will dramatically improve the quality of our surgical education and training program,” said professor Dr. Wilko Grolman, an otolaryngologist based in the Netherlands.  “With 4K resolution, we are one step closer to viewing the procedure as though it's through the surgeon's eyes.”

In addition to enhancing the collaborative experiences for businesses, Poly is giving IT teams a break by combining multiple solutions into one product, with support for industry standards to make connecting to any cloud-based video platform or ecosystem easy.
