Ribbon Helps Deliver Emergency Calling Solutions in Japan
Mission critical communications are key for any municipality. In Japan, where there are also strict regulatory requirements in place, the need to deliver a compliant and highly functioning solution is especially important for carriers.
In a bid to help ensure that in emergency situations the public has a way to securely and easily communicate with local fire, police and other personnel, Ribbon Communications announced it provided Colt Technology Service Co., Ltd. with an Emergency Calling Service (ECS) that includes location information and is compliant with Japanese regulatory requirements.
The new offering has been available for use since March 1, 2019 and makes it possible for anyone using using Colt Voice Services to easily reach the police, coast guard, fire and ambulance services and reach authorities.
Required location specific information includes the callers phone number address and registered company name so that authorities can identify exact location.
"Having the ECS system in place enables us to offer our customers direct access to the Japanese Police, Fire Department and Coast Guard in emergency situations," said Masato Hoshino , Colt Head of Asia . "In addition to enhancing our current service offerings, this deployment enables us to add future services to our voice portfolio."
Working with Ribbon Communications, Colt Japan is able to implement VoIP and migrate PSTN based services to Ip while also leaving behind the need to route services through 3rd party networks.
Earlier this year, Colt announced the availability of its Colt Online tool for customers and partners in the APAC region including customers in Japan, Hong Kong and Korea who can access the online tool for ticket status, planned maintenance and more in their local language.
