By Maurice Nagle - Web Editor

The task ahead for healthcare is epic, herculean. Telehealth will be a key component of the coronavirus fight for the foreseeable future, and as such providers are coming to the table with user friendly, feature rich solutions enabling a post-COVID world.

Electronic health record (EHR) company Epic selected Twilio Programmable Video to support its new telehealth solution. The platform allows healthcare providers the capability to meet patients over video with relevant data and documentation easily accessible.

As a premier EHR firm, Epic was able to address an exploding demand courtesy of COVID-19. When the pandemic struck, Epic went into action, working on a telehealth platform capable of supporting doctors, nurses and patients with an optimal virtual experience. In leveraging the Twilio’s Programmable Video API, Epic was able see the security and scalability required.

“Epic built and scaled its telehealth video client at unprecedented speed to meet provider and patient demand as healthcare systems not only struggled to curb the spread of the virus but continued to deliver necessary care through the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Susan Collins, global head of healthcare services at Twilio. “That’s the power of digital engagement, software agility and cloud scale. We're excited to power this vital solution to assist the providers who are serving their patients and communities during the COVID-19 crisis and beyond.”

Cloud communications can promise the versatility needed to address the demands of telehealth and the current coronavirus pandemic.
