Motorola Solutions Acquires Law Enforcement Communications Provider Callyo
Today, it’s not just businesses that need up-to-the-minute data and intelligence on which to base decisions. As law enforcement becomes increasingly digital, many police departments are finding it difficult to translate twentieth-century procedures into twenty-first century policing.
Callyo is a St. Petersburgh, Florida-based mobile law enforcement communications company that offers a software-as-a-service (SaaS) suite that serves thousands of public safety customers across North America. Its portfolio includes two application suites: 10-21, which simplifies communication between first responders and citizens, and Callyo, which provides investigative tools that improve digital evidence collection. As of this week, Callyo is now part of Motorola Solutions, Inc.
“First responders are increasingly looking to mobile applications to boost productivity and enhance community relations,” said Andrew Sinclair, SVP and general manager of Software Enterprise for Motorola Solutions, in a statement. “With Callyo’s technology, agencies can improve collaboration and enhance the evidence collection process to build stronger cases more efficiently, ultimately enabling them to better serve and keep communities safe.”
The 10-21 solution, named after the radio code for “make a phone call,” provides an innovative way to encourage safe, convenient dialogue with police officers. The service was created to increase efficiencies in law enforcement communication. The Callyo component helps law enforcement communicate directly with their community, respond to crises, and keep events safe.
This acquisition adds to Motorola Solutions’ existing command center software suite critical mobile technology capabilities that enable information to flow seamlessly from the field to the command center, said the companies.
“With Motorola Solutions, we have the opportunity to accelerate our product innovation, reach and commitment to service,” said Chris Bennett, founder and chief product officer, Callyo. “We’re excited to work together to deliver the next generation of mobile application capabilities that simplify and enhance communication between first responders and the communities they serve.”
The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
